When a dyscalculic hears fractions like 3/4 or 5/7 it is difficult for them to picture how much that is because fractions are represented through an abstract system. Shape Math™ fixes this by combining the intuitive understanding of a pie graph with the precision of fractions.

Here is how you represent 3/4:

The outside shape
is the denominator.
The colored in portion is
the part of the fraction
that you have.
The white portion with
the color outline is the
portion you don’t have.

With this visual layout, the student gains an understanding of what fractions actually mean and allows them to visualize and manipulate fractions mentally.
