When a dyscalculic hears fractions like 3/4 or 5/7 it is difficult for them to picture how much that is because fractions are represented through an abstract system. Shape Mathâ˘ fixes this by combining the intuitive understanding of a pie graph with the precision of fractions.

Here is how you representÂ 3/4:

The outside shape is the denominator. |
The colored in portion is the part of the fraction that you have. |
The white portion with the color outline is the portion you don’t have. |

With this visual layout, the student gains an understanding of what fractions actually mean and allows them to visualize and manipulate fractions mentally.
